Admission

Access to any of the services offered at Darwin Private Hospital is available via referral. Your local GP, physician, surgeon or allied health professional will be able to assist you with obtaining a referral to a private specialist who is accredited at the hospital and who can organise your admission or enrolment into a program. During your stay you will be under the direct care of this private specialist who will from time to time be assisted by other accredited private specialists and hospital staff.

Should you require in-patient care, your doctor will provide you with an admission package. You will need to complete the forms in the pack and return them to our service desk (located on the ground floor to the right of our reception desk) at least 48 hours prior to your arrival. If you require assistance with completing the forms our friendly staff will be more than happy to help.  The hospital service desk is open from 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

If your admission involves surgery your doctor should provide information about your procedure along with advice on the steps you need to take prior to surgery. In most circumstances this would include a consultation with an anaesthetist and a visit to our Pre-Admission Clinic.

On the day of your admission you will need to report to our admission desk located on the first floor outside our theatre facilities. Your doctor will have advised what time you should present to the hospital.

At the time of admission you will be asked to complete a check-in slip and provide a credit card to cover any charges that you may incur during your hospital admission that are not directly related to your treatment, for example phone charge cards, purchases from the hospitality trolley and additional meals for family members.
